State police opened an intense two-year internal investigation but the drugs were never recovered.

Animal Abuse = No Clear My Record!

Pets aren’t only totally dependent on us for their food, water, and happiness. They are also dependent on us to love them, protect them, and so very much more. Therefore, with this said, if you do know about any animal abuse, don’t keep it to yourself. This is because not only is it the right thing to do, you would also be helping the unfortunate animal, who didn’t ask to be the victim of abuse or wants to be the victim of abuse. Animals are as defenseless, as are children, and they need to be protected from any form of neglect or abuse overall.

In addition to not only doing the right thing, you will possibly be saving the life of the animal, and this is something that a lot of people do need to do just for that fact alone. Animal abuse is something that does deserve to be punishable as a felony, not as just a misdemeanor, as it is a very serious form of crime in its own right. If people can abuse animals, they will later go on to abuse humans, and this is something that must be prevented from happening. The only way to stop animal abuse, is to punish doers of it, to the fullest extent that is allowed by law. They should not be able to seek out safety from great lawyers in the U.S. such as Dawson Law Group.

Expungement Attorney/Lawyers Should Not Be Used in Animal Abuse Cases

Some people out there do simply believe that nothing is beyond them. They tend to abuse or neglect their animals, because they believe that they can get by with it, or a variety of other reasons. Some of these other reasons can range from having mental issues to being a control freak to beyond. Despite the many reasons people do give, as to why they did animal abuse, there is still no reason to justify this kind of very mean and heartless treatment towards innocent animals. If you are someone who has done animal abuse, and who wants to hire an expungement lawyer, in order to clear your criminal record. An expungement attorney may not be able to help you, when it comes to clearing your name of such a crime. So, with this said, clear my criminal record may not be so easy a thing to get done.

If These Signs Appear & There Is A Case, Remove the Clear My Criminal Record Option

If you do know about any animal abuse going on, do make sure to tell someone about it right away. Since recognizing animal cruelty is not an easy thing to do. You do have to make sure that the animal in question is indeed being abused or neglected. The best way to confirm this is by examining both the animal and its environment up close and personal. If you are 100% sure that the animal is being abused or neglected, based on some of the most common of all signs, you should then notify local animal authorities about it as soon as possible. Some of the physical signs that an animal is being abused or neglected do include the collar being so tight around the dog’s neck that it is causing a neck wound or is embedded in its neck. Other physical signs of animal cruelty do include the owner striking or visibly abusing the animal in plain sight, the animal being extremely thin and emaciated with bones showing, fur infested with fleas, ticks, and other parasites.

Some signs of environment animal abuse do include pet being tied up for long periods of time outside with no food or water, the food and water being unsanitary for the animal to consume, the pet is kept outside in very bad weather with no shelter to protect it, or pets being kept in areas that can prove harmful to them in some way. This could mean that they are kept in places that are littered with feces, broken glass, garbage, and other items that could hurt them in some way. If you see any of these two types of signs, and know of someone who is abusing their pet, do notify the proper authorities quickly. If you wait to do anything, it could mean the pet’s life, and this is something you don’t want to have on your conscious for conscious sake.

Animal Cruelty Should Be Taken More Serious

Animal cruelty is a very serious offense against innocent creatures and it should be punishable by law. Those who do these type of crimes are getting away with only misdemeanor charges for it and this is not fair. An expungement lawyer should not even help these kind of people to clear their criminal record. This is because if they have done animal cruelty once, they are sure to do it again in the future, and the only way to lessen this chance is by making animal abuse into a felony charge that does carry more punished along with it. Long Island Residents Stumped Over Removal Of Trees

CBS New York

ALBERTSON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — More than a dozen 70-year-old trees were suddenly chopped down in a Long Island neighborhood, and now residents, stuck with unsightly stumps, are demanding answers.

As CBS 2’s Jennifer McLogan reported, the trees — sycamore, oak, elm — served as a buffer to traffic, providing color, shade and comfort along busy Searingtown Road in Albertson.

But a crew recently chopped down 13 trees.

“To take these trees down, it’s just really upsetting,” said Rashmi Iyer, of Albertson. “It’s heartbreaking.”

“They didn’t really ask anything,” said resident Michael Constantino. “They didn’t double-check with us.”

Residents wondered if PSEG Long Island was using the ax because new power poles were going up. The utility, however, explained it had nothing to do with removing the trees, that the county or town was responsible.

“I have a neighbor — in fact, she was so overwhelmed that she was crying,” said Albertson…

Should an Expungement Lawyer Help an Animal Abuser?

There is nothing worse than seeing a dog or other animal being abused or treated cruelly.  Most of us enjoy animals and their company, it seems unconscionable to us when people mistreat them. The month of April has been designated as Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month.  Countless people, as well as animal rights groups are trying to get law passed to protect animals from abusive owners. Hopefully the next step is to not allow them to apply for the ”clear my criminal record” procedure which comes with the help of an expungement lawyer.

Currently, many states are pushing for legislation that would impose stiff penalties on people convicted of animal cruelty.  Animal advocates are stressing the need for animal abuse to be a felony rather than a misdemeanor, to emphasize that it is wrong to to deliberately inflict pain or injure an animal. Many of us have strong views on animal abuse.  When you see a defenseless animal that has obviously been abused, is ill or injured due to mistreatment, we get very angry and want something terrible to happen to the person who did it.

Many people have expressed anger that someone guilty of animal abuse only received a fine or minimal time served for the crime of animal abuse.  Occasionally, when someone has a criminal history, they may try to seek expungement of their convictions.  However, many people feel that crimes like animal abuse should never have the opportunity to expunge their convictions.  It is such a heinous crime, and these abusers are very likely repeat the animal abuse if not stopped permanently.   How To Spot Animal Cruelty. One may think that it is easy to see when an animal is being abused, but that is not always the case.

For example, most people are familiar with “puppy mills,” where the owner has dozens of animals housed in cramped, filthy conditions, (rusted crowded cages, sitting in their own waste, etc). But what about individual dogs or cats in a home that are abused?  The experts at the ASPCA say that animals who display fearful, timid or aggressive behavior  may be experiencing abuse, but not always. However, one cannot determine animal abuse on behavior alone.

One of the characteristics that endears animals to us, is their forgiving, loving nature. State Laws That Prevent Animal CrueltyThe following states currently rank as the top five states in the U.S. that have the stiffest penalties for animal abuse.  These states include:

1.Illinois

2.Maine

3.California

4.Michigan

5.Oregon

Recent legislature has provided three main provisions for animal abuse: the duty to provide adequate care, the intentional infliction of pain and suffering, and anti-animal fighting.  Some states also allow for the seizure of property, such as cars and homes if animal fighting is part of the crime.   Many states are now strengthening their seizure and forfeiture laws in the last couple years. One example is Michigan, where intentional inflicting of pain carries the severest penalty for animal cruelty and is automatically a felony.  If one is found guilty of failure to provide adequate care, is penalty is a misdemeanor, but a second violation becomes a felony.

Subsequent violations also carry the penalty of a felony.  Animal fighting violations may carry the penalty of misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the severity of the fighting and abuse. So in summary, an expungement lawyer should not be able to help someone who is convicted of animal cruelty.  For more information on state laws preventing animal cruelty, you can visit the following link.

D.C. Mayor Gray Signs Pot Decriminalization Bill

CBS DC

WASHINGTON — District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray has signed a bill that decriminalizes possession of small amounts of marijuana.

Like all new laws in the district, the bill now goes to Congress for review. House Speaker John Boehner has said Congress will “look at” the bill. Seventeen states have some form of decriminalization, and Congress rarely acts to invalidate district laws.

Gray signed the bill on Monday, a day before Democratic primary voters will decide whether he should receive a second term. The bill’s lead sponsor is one of the mayor’s opponents, D.C. Councilmember Tommy Wells.

Wells describes the law as “a victory for the district and a victory for justice,” citing a study that found black residents were eight times more likely than whites to be arrested for pot possession.
